5 Best Britney Spears Perfumes (That Actually Smell Good)

Britney Spears has become an icon for many, as much for her endearing persona and personal struggles as her music and performing ability. However she’s more than just a pop legend singer and dancer, she also has expanded her empire into a successful (and extensive) perfume line.

Britney Spears fragrances are Curious, Control, (flanker: Curious In Control, Fantasy, (including a myriad of flankers such as Midnight Fantasy, Hidden Fantasy, Intimate Fantasy, Circus Fantasy, Maui Fantasy, Sunset Fantasy, and Island Fantasy), Prerogative, Private Show (flanker: VIP Private Show), Radiance (flanker: Cosmic Radiance) and Believe.

While Britney Spears’ fragrances might not turn perfume snobs into believers, they are solid celebrity scents at a mid-price point. Much like Britney herself, they combine sweetness and innocence with something a bit more sultry and sexy. Whether you’re a fan of her music or just in the market for a fun perfume that won’t break your budget, they’re worth a second look.

Top 5 Best-Selling Britany Spears Perfumes for Women

Britney Spears Curious Eau de Parfum Spray

Britney Spears’ first perfume Curious, was created by Claude Dir (also the nose behind Curious Heart and Curious In Control) by Coty in 2004. Curious is a youthful fruity floral fragrance perfect for a young romantic woman. It has a moderate sillage, which means the people around you can smell it, but won’t feel overwhelmed.

Curious is less sweet than Fantasy and feels generally more sophisticated than some of her other fragrances. It lasts for 4-5 hours and is a perfect spring/summer fragrance. The bottle is a squat, rounded turquoise prism with two pink hearts dangling on gold chains. It refracts the light and looks unique amongst all the popular minimalist perfume bottles you see today. Britney Spears Midnight Fantasy Eau De Parfum Spray

Sometimes flankers meant as sideline variations on a fragrance, become more popular than the original scent. That’s exactly what’s happened with Midnight Fantasy, Britney Spears’ fourth fragrance release and one of the best-selling fragrances in her collection. Created in 2006 by Caroline Sabas, it’s definitely a sweet, fruit bomb of a scent.

The bottle is a round orb, in keeping with the rest of the Fantasy line, however this time dark blue with lighter blue Swarovski crystals for a little decorative edge. It’s a very fruity, sexy scent, and makes me think that it’s the perfect perfume for a romantic date night dancing in the tropics. I would say due to the sweetness, it skews younger and is more of a spring or summertime scent.

Fragrance Notes are Black cherries, Plum, Orchid, and Freesia with base notes of Musk and Amber.

Britney Spears Circus Fantasy Eau de Parfum Splash For Women

Another popular flanker from the Fantasy series is Circus Fantasy. It’s a fun, whirlwind of a scent created in cooperation with Elizabeth Arden. I was expecting something circus-like such as cotton candy and was pleasantly surprised that it’s a wearable sweet, fruity floral. It’s lighter and more of a day scent compared with Midnight Fantasy and is perfect for teens.

For packaging, it’s a cross between Britney Spears’ Circus album art and the Fantasy fragrance line’s usual round orb, this time in soft pearlized blue glass accented with red crystals. It’s got a moderate sillage and longevity, like many floral fragrances, but is weak to moderate so you might need to reapply it during the day.

Believe Britney Spears by Britney Spears For Women

If fragrances were judged by bottles alone, Believe would be my hands-down favorite. It’s a sharp, angular break from the pretty, girly bottles of most of her perfume line and similarly, the fragrance is less sweet and girly as well.

While it’s definitely a sweet fragrance, it’s got a bit more earthiness to it and could be marketed as a unisex cologne — I could see men pulling it off successfully. The green juice alludes to the fresh fruity-green scent with strong notes of patchouli, guava, and tangerine.

What Are Celebrity Fragrances?

Britney Spears is another celebrity to get her name on a perfume bottle. Other well-known celebrities have made their own fragrance too, such as Celine Dion, Sarah Jessica Parker and Paris Hilton. The list is long, and there will be more to come.

These are combinations of a product produced by a perfume house and sold under a well-known person’s name – celebrity marketing – to increase exposure and sales.

As with all celebrity marketing, sales will be most influenced initially by the fame of the person whose name is on the bottle. Repeat sales will hopefully be decided on the quality of the product. However cynical it might sound to fragrance iconoclasts, there have been some truly wonderful celebrity perfumes made through this combination of fame and fragrance
