Our Hermes Perfume Favourites

We’ve gathered some of the finest Hermes perfume to highlight the creative freedom and elegance that the brand has established since its creation. These fragrances have stood the test of time, adapting, and changing to the needs of society.

Best Woody Scent

L’Ombre des Merveilles is an intense, oriental woody scent for both men and women. Created by perfumer Christine Nagel, this Hermes perfume emphasizes the rich notes of black tea paired with the sensual nature of the tonka bean.

Fernweh Editions Fern & Petals Candle

A spicy, dry perfume, L’Ombre des Merveilles focuses on the mysterious nature of the pairing of fantasy and reality. The glass bottle’s design is meant to resemble a magnifying glass, highlighting childlike wonder with a mature outlook on life.

There is a hint of incense in each bottle that attracts divine fascination and unlocks this parfum as a “key of wonders.” Christine Nagel’s attentiveness to the soft, mystical scents in correlation to the woody, spicy tones is what makes this Hermes Perfume unique and eternal.

Best Floral Scent

A lively, feminine perfume, the Twilly d’Hermes was inspired by the vivacious lifestyle of young women. Another creation by perfumer Christine Nagel, Twilly d’Hermes presents a daring fragrance of ginger and tuberose to create a warm and exotic eau de parfum.

Based on sandalwood and vanilla with tones of bergamot, bitter orange, orange blossom, and jasmine, this perfume captures the mischievous and irreverent nature of young women.

The hand-tied scarf around the bottle references the silk scarves worn by young girls as a desire to incorporate a sense of optimism and unpredictability into this floral scent. While it is based on femininity and floral fragrances, this perfume is bold, sensual, and exotic.

Best Overall

A token of femininity, Jour d’Hermes launched in 2013, encapsulating a rich floral scent. Perfumer, Jean-Claude Ellena, desired to capture femininity using nothing but floral scents. This parfum is soft and sweet, entirely floral, and radiates the delicacy of a woman’s touch.

At its base, notes of musk and wood add a fresh aroma. Grapefruit, lemon, white flowers, and gardenia are at the top, providing the sweet scent of a floral bouquet. Rose and sweet pea add a hint of delicacy amongst the silky undertones of jasmine and tuberose.

Best for Summer

The nose behind Eau des Merveilles Bleue is Christine Nagel. This Hermes perfume promises freshness and delicacy. As a reflection of the aquatic, this fragrance magnifies the fresh, clean, and vibrant nature of waterways.

Launched in 2016, Eau de Merveilles Bleue presents scents of softwood, juniper berry, patchouli, and mineral stone. Of course, the height of this Hermes perfume is the strong sea notes that offer crisp and natural scents.

Best Fresh Scent

Launched in 2011, Un Jardin Sur Le Toit is the fourth fragrance in the Un Jardin series and translates as “Garden on the roof.” This is in reference to the lush garden filled with flowers, fruit trees, and shrubs located at the Hermes headquarters at 24 Rue Faubourg Saint-Honore.

Crafted by Jean-Claude Ellena, this Hermes perfume matches the rich scents of apple trees and wild grasses at Hermes. Inspired by the hanging plants, magnolia, pear trees, and the light and joy of Hermes, this fragrance is saturated with savory scents of gardenia.

Apple, pear, magnolia, rose, wild grass, basil, and other earthy notes are featured in this Hermes perfume.

Best Modern Scent

In 2009, the Kelly Caleche Eau de Toilette was launched in honor of Grace Kelly and the leather Kelly bag, in addition to the Caleche evening perfume launched the year prior. Jean-Claude Ellena was inspired by a trip to the Hermes leather storehouse where the famous Hermes bags are crafted and stored.

The inspiration for the fragrance was drawn from rich leather scents paired with soft florals to create a light and mischievous parfum. Notes of rose and mimosa soften the perfume and create airy energy filled with laughter and joy.

The Classsic

Rouge Hermes Eau de toilette is a semi-oriental, amber floral scent that establishes a rich and sensual take for the new millennium. Launched in 2000 and crafted by Akiko Kamei, Rouge is colored by passion and sensuality.

The top notes of this Hermes perfume include rose, ylang-ylang, and iris. However, the pairing of these light florals with the rooted notes of sandalwood, amber, vanilla, and cedar make this perfume a sophisticated take on a romantic night in.

Interestingly enough, Rouge Hermes was originally called Parfum d’Hermes. The original scent was crafted in 1984 and was reinvented in 2000. This perfume is considered one of the grand classics in the industry.

Best for Every Day

Hermessence Rose Ikebana by Hermes is part of a collection of fragrances that reflect sober and intense poetry. Jean-Claude Ellena crafted Rose Ikebana in 2004 and features a surprising contrast of rose petals with crisp rhubarb.

A fresh and delicate fragrance inspired by the minimalistic Japanese art of Ikebanaarranging bouquets of cut flowers this perfume implements unique complementary pairings of citrus and musk.

At the forefront of this parfum, rest rose and rhubarb. There are hints of tea, lemon, orange, cassia, and musk as undertones to this incredible fragrance.

Best for Special Occasion

24 Faubourg was launched in 1995 and crafted by Maurice Roucel. This Hermes perfume highlights hyacinth, orange, and ylang-ylang for a warm and citrusy scent. This perfume is another Hermes classic, right down to the shape of the bottle.

The square shape tapers off with rounded edges like a scarf billowing in the breeze. This particular scent was inspired by a swathe of white flowers flowing gently in a spring breeze.

Notes of jasmine and vanilla add a warm and sensual vibe to this floral Hermes perfume.

Best Masculine

Rooted in clove, geranium, and sandalwood, Equipage Geranium is a signature of spice and elegance. Created by Guy Robert in 1970, this parfum is the first men’s fragrance by Hermes. Filled with scents of wood and spice, backed by a velvety geranium, Equipage Geranium presents a sense of heritage and timeless aroma.
